At Mall of Georgia Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we're proud to help drivers find the ideal vehicle for their daily excursions and weekend escapes. That's why our team is here to help you compare the 2025 Ram 1500 against the 2024 Ram 2500. Both trucks offer vastly different platforms with similar features, allowing you to choose the ideal configuration for work, play, and occasional getaways.

Engine Options

Under the hood, the Ram 1500 features a standard 305-horsepower 3.6-liter Pentastar® V6 engine with eTorque, or an available 3.0-liter Hurricane engine that produces up to 420 horsepower and 469 pound-feet of torque. In addition, the Ram 1500 is available with a High-Output 3.0-liter Hurricane engine that cranks out 540 horsepower and 521 pound-feet of torque. Ram 2500 trucks come with engines tuned for reliability, including a standard 6.4-liter HEMI® V8 Gas engine with 410 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque or an available 6.7-liter Cummins® Turbo Diesel with 370 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque.

Towing and Payload

When it comes to towing, the Ram 1500 offers a respectable 11,550 pounds of maximum towing capacity using the 3.0-liter Hurricane engine. However, the Ram 2500 offers up to 19,990 pounds of maximum towing capacity with the 6.7-liter Cummins® Turbo Diesel, outperforming all light-duty trucks. In addition, the Ram 1500 only offers up to 2,370 pounds of maximum payload capacity with the standard 3.6-liter Pentastar® V6 engine with eTorque, while the Ram 2500 offers up to 4,000 pounds of maximum payload capacity with the standard 6.4-liter HEMI® V8 engine.

Off-Roading

Ram 1500 trucks are available in three off-road-ready trims, including the Warlock, Rebel, and the unique RHO with 35-inch all-terrain tires and 11.8 inches of ground clearance. While the thought of heavy-duty truck off-roading may seem odd, the Ram 2500 is available in two well-equipped trims to help trade workers, outdoor explorers, and enthusiasts reach their destinations. Ram 2500 Rebel® models offer a rear limited slip differential with an e-locker and 20-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, while Ram 2500 Power Wagon® models feature 17-inch wheels wrapped in 33-inch all-terrain tires, an electronic locking front differential, an electronic disconnecting sway bar, and more.

Interior Comfort

Inside the cabin is where the refreshed 2025 Ram 1500 shines compared to the 2024 Ram 2500. New Ram 1500 models offer far better on-road comfort thanks to the Tungsten trim, which features 24-way power-adjustable front seats with heating, ventilation, and massage functionality. While the Ram 2500 does offer heated and ventilated front seats, the Ram 2500 only offers available auto-level rear air suspension, while the Ram 1500 is available with Four-Corner Air Suspension to soak up bumps.

Technology

Connectivity is a key part of any driving experience, which is why the Ram 1500 features a standard 8.4-inch Uconnect® 5 infotainment system, and the Ram 2500 comes with a 5.0-inch Uconnect® 3 infotainment system or 8.4-inch Uconnect® 5 infotainment system. In addition, the Ram 1500 and Ram 2500 are both available with a 12.0-inch Uconnect® 5 touchscreen that features wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. However, the Ram 1500 pushes connectivity to new heights with an available 14.5-inch Uconnect® 5 touchscreen and an optional 10.25-inch Front Passenger Interactive Display.
